Welcome Winter Lantern

A beacon of joy for the chilly days to come, this Welcome Winter lantern with pinecones and tree boughs is a beautiful addition anywhere in your home. This year, craft all the warm and toasty your home can hold with the Winter Over N Over Glass Etching Stencil Sheet and our Armour Etch Glass Etching Cream. Lanterns are a year-round décor staple. With just a few adornments, and a stencil image or two, they become magical vessels of light and good cheer.

Preparation and Usage Starting Skills

Project Steps

  1. Clean the glass thoroughly with a good quality glass cleaner. If the glass cannot be removed from the lantern, cover the gap between the exterior glass and the frame with electrical style tape to prevent rinse water from sneaking inside later. Do this for any other open areas where water might seep in. Use masking tape, as usual, for the rest of the process.
  2. Apply the desired stencil to the outside glass of the lantern. To etch more than one pane at a time with the same stencil, multiple sheets will be required. Otherwise, etch the panes one at a time.
  3. Follow the etching cream instructions to apply the etching cream.
  4. Because the glass is embedded in the lantern, use a brush to gently remove as much cream as possible before rinsing. This will abbreviate the amount of time under running water and further reduce the chance of rinse water getting where you don’t want it.
  5. Rinse the cream off completely before removing tape and stencils
